I’m starting to get really excited for this conference. I’m going to be spending the better part of a week in gorgeous Vancouver, B.C. I can’t wait to try all the great restaurants.
What I find interesting about this conference is that Microsoft is one of the sponsors. I have a feeling there won’t be a bunch of Microsoft “shop” developers there. It’s good to see MS reaching out to people who lean towards open technologies and standards.
The are holding “Birds of a Feather” sessions over lunch each day. I was fortunate enough to have my suggestion for a topic chosen. I’m on their list at the bottom. My topic is:
Putting Sharepoint on a Diet
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server is a robust system for creating sites of any scale. Unfortunately, out of the box MOSS assumes you are building an Intranet to be viewed only with IE. Let’s discuss methods for getting MOSS sites to trim a few pounds off the front-end code as well as ensuring an identical cross-browser experience that conforms to web standards.
I hope I don’t end up eating lunch alone.
